hey, hey... my, my...

today someone budded in front of me while i was waiting for the bus. It doesn't bother me much, except that i gets me started on wondering why people do that. It seems like it happens all the time. "the days of common decency are gone..." so says Brian Griffin. Speaking of which, i can't wait til they re-air Family Guy... tv's "second coming".

anyways, for some reason i was thinking of all the people i might have pissed off over the years. It's funny, cause i don't think i've ever wanted to hurt anyone, i've never had a sadistic side in me. I think what it stems from is my desire to please everyone... no, wait... i'm not that saintly. I think what it is, is that i can't stand having people mad it me and because of that, i TRY to please as many people as i can. But what ends up happening is that the people i try to please get some watered down version of me which turns into unfulfilled promises, evenings cut short, a backbone so flimsy that would put a slinky to shame...

I think one thing i've learned (well, still learning) over my time here at Western is how to be my own person. So many times i've tried to imitate what i saw and admired in other people that i totally neglected who or what was inside of me the whole time. That's not to say that we shouldn't admire and learn from other people. But i think it's always important to not completely ignore who you really are. If you keep trying to be someone who you're not, eventually you end up with no personality at all.

Here's to the quest for individuality...

I forget how alike we are. I do that all the time! copy people. people with cool clothes sense, people who speak funny, people with cool legacies, people with cool designs. thats how you learn best isn't it? i think: just as long as you make it a really diverse amalgamation of styles - then you'll get your own eclectic mix - your own style! people think i'm cool - but its only because i've been "inspired" i.e tried to copy other people i thought were cool. just as long as your no.1 hero is God its cool... rem to keep it Real hommie...
